BWLET.net in its national context
This project will be an important contribution for a number of reasons: With the creation of
the National Assembly for Wales the biculturalism of Wales has become a
matter of urgent practical, as well as ideological,
interest; There is a very active concern to recognize a new, multicultural Britain; Anglophone culture worldwide has begun to shown an interest in Welsh language literature – witness the inclusion of materials in anthologies edited by Seamus Heaney and Ted Hughes, and by Robert Crawford; Translation Studies is a development of academic interest, and yet the absence of a “map” of Welsh-English translation means that this, one of the richest fields in the British context, is never examined. |
